Colt 6933-FBI HRT Upper Receiver Assembly, 11.5" Barrel
Received yesterday, quick delivery as usual. Looks to have a greenish tint in the photo on the site, even compared to other Colt uppers pictured on the site. However, it is all black. If you're expecting a green forend like on contracted HRT rifles, you'll be disappointed. Forend appears to be a Colt branded Centurian rail, not a green Geiselle like on contracted HRT rifles. Would have been cool if it were green. The description includes that this has a "heavy barrel" which would be correct for contracted HRT rifles. However, the barrel appears to be a government profile when compared to SOCOM or Colt A3 HBAR profiled barrels. Barrel tapers down between chamber and gas block and forward of gas block. "Heavy Barrel" is misleading. Barrel and extractor have Colt CAGE code. Bolt is MPC marked. The upper receiver only has a "keyhole" forge mark, no Colt markings at all, mystery upper. This upper does fit on my 6944 lower with zero wobble, unlike the "C" marked 6944 upper. No where on the Colt factory label on their box is "HRT" or "heavy barrel" included. The use of "HRT" and heavy barrel" in the ad is misleading. This upper may be as supplied to FBI field offices, but it is not as spec'd out for FBI HRT. Honestly it appears to be the same as one of AU's less expensive 6933 upper assemblies only with MagPul Pros and a Colt branded Radian Raptor charging handle, but without a flash suppressor. If you're wanting a true FBI HRT spec/clone rifle, this is NOT what you need. This appears to be free-floated 11.5, gov.-profiled upper with Pros and a Radian Raptor to which you'll have to add a flash suppressor. The ad says this upper comes with a heavy (HRT-spec?) barrel, and compared to other comparable 6933 uppers on the site, the price may reflect that, however, it does NOT come with a "heavy barrel." Misleading. I did not notice the discrepancy in the actual barrel profile vs its description until after running a mag through it at the range today. Was eager to get it sighted in before dark today. Seems accurate, consistent hits on 8" plate @ 200 with Comp M5S. More nimble than DD MK18 with RIS II. 1990's 4-prong SEI vortex threaded on perfectly. Discovered that the front post on the Pros is too narrow for my eyes. Price vs not getting barrel described is the only reason for my lower rating. Description and pricing needs to be revised.
